// DAY 1

“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

Ephesians 5:18-21

From “Being Filled with the Spirit” (Week 3 of the Third Person message series) by Bruce Wesley, Sept. 29, 2019.

“When we… are giving thanks for all things we are reminded that we’re doing this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that when we give thanks, we’re giving context to everything.”

CHALLENGE

It’s easy to give thanks for the good things in our lives. But what about the bad? What about the difficult? What about the frustrating? If we can give thanks to God through those moments, even if we don’t understand or if we feel angry in their midst, we are declaring our trust in God and acknowledging his presence in every aspect of our existence.

Write down a list of your most recent difficult issues, seasons of life, or trying situations. Pray over your list each day this week, beginning today, and give thanks to God for each thing you wrote down.
